The 2023 Richwoods Knights took a 6-23 record into the Washington Regional before knocking off the top Sub-Sectional seed and host Washington, 2-0 in the semifinals.  On Saturday, the Knights faced off against Limestone in the Regional Championship game, erasing 3-2 deficit in the top of the 7th with 3 runs to beat the Rockets, earning the program's first Regional Title since 2018.

Advancing the Metamora Sectional, the Knights squared up with Streator, using some more come-from-behind magic, to beat the Bulldogs, 5-4.  That put the Knights in the Sectional Championship for the first time in 45 years.

Taking on Rock Island, who had won 30 straight games, the Knights gave them their best using the last bit of that magic to take the lead on the Rocks going into the bottom of the 6th.  Rock Island responded with 4 runs of their own to take an 8-5 lead.  Richwoods threatened in the top of the 7th, but was unable to make one last comeback win.
